What is CSUN WebMail?
CSUN Webmail is an email service which may be accessed using a standard web browser. An Email system where a user may access their emails with a browser on any computer or device that’s connected to the web.
Student Email
Students are issued a CSUN email account when they apply to the University. Your CSUN student Gmail account serves as your official email account with the University.
Faculty & Staff
The email system for CSUN faculty and staff is Microsoft Office 365 and there are different ways to access your account.
How to active student User ID and password
- Locate the “Activate CSUN User ID and Password” email sent to you by Admissions and Records. The email will include a link to authenticate your identity and set-up your own password.
- Visit the CSUN Login page, and enter your user ID and password.
- Follow the subsequent instructions to activate your user ID and password.
How to active Faculty ID and password
- Your CSUN user ID and password will be issued when you sign–in with Human Resources.
- Visit the CSUN Login page, and enter your User ID and Initial Password.
- Follow the subsequent instructions to activate your User ID and Password.
CSUN Webmail Log in (Student Gmail Login)
- First visit webmail webpage.
- Click on Login in to Gmail
- Enter your User ID and Password.
- Then click on Login button
Forgot ID or Password?
- Go to their Login page.
- If you forgot your user id click on Forgot My User ID link.
- If you forgot your password click on Forgot My Password link.
CSUN Webmail Log in (Faculty & Staff)
- First visit webmail webpage.
- Click on Microsoft Office 365
- Enter your User ID and Password.
- Then click on Login button

How to CSUN Email Setup for iPhone?
- Go to iPhone settings option
- Click on Account & Password
- Tap Add Account
- Select Exchange
- Enter the following Server information
– outlook.office365.com
– Username field, enter your username as: firstname.lastname @ csun.edu (no spaces). - Your mail program will find the mail settings to set up the account.
Setup CSUN Email Account on Android Phone
- Step 1
Open Email App in your android device - Step 2
Select Settings - Step 3
Select Add Account
- Step 4
Enter your CSUN email address as firstname.lastname @ csun.edu (no spaces). - Step 5
Enter your password - Step 6
Select Next. - Step 7
Select the Exchange and then Next. - Step 8
Enter following details:
– Domain\Username: your full email address firstname.lastname @ csun.edu (no spaces).
– Password: Enter your CSUN password.
– Server: outlook.office365.com.
– Verify that Use secure connection (SSL) is checked. - Step 9
Once your phone verifies the server settings, the Android options you see will vary. - Step 10
Tap the Next button and enter a name for the account. - Step 11
Select Done.
CSUN Email Setup For Window 8.0
- Step 1
Navigate to Settings. - Step 2
Tap email + accounts. - Step 3
Select add an account. - Step 4
Choose Outlook. - Step 5
Enter your full email address firstname.lastname @ csun.edu (no spaces) and password. - Step 6
Tap the Sign In button. - Step 7
Your phone will sync your email.
Email Setup for Outlook 2007 and 2010
- Step 1
From the Start menu, select Control Panel. - Step 2
Tap the Mail icon. - Step 3
Click Mail Setup – Outlook window displays. Click E-mail Accounts… - Step 4
In the Account Settings window, select New. - Step 5
Enter following details in the Add New E-mail Account window:
– Enter your name
– Enter your CSUN email address ( ).
– Enter your portal password.
– Re-type your password - Step 6
Select the Next button. - Step 7
The window displays “Configuring” as it searches for your server settings. - Step 8
If you receive the connect to autodiscover.csun.edu window, enter your email address and password and select the OK button to continue. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
Configuration is successful. Select the Finish button to complete the set-up process.
Email Setup for Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird app
- Select Tools
- Click Account Settings…
- Select Add Mail Account.
- Enter your Name, CSUN email address ( ) and Password.
- Click Continue.
- The Mail Account Setup Window displays your information.
- Verify Your name and Email Address.
- Select Create Account.
– Thunderbird will process and indicate that it has located your account.
– The final screen verifies your account information. - Your Email account will now appear in the Account Settings window in the left-hand pane.
Email Setup for Mac Mail
- Select Preferences from the Mail menu.
- Verify that the Accounts icon is chosen.
- If the Account wizard does not open, select the + symbol in the lower left corner.
- Select Add Other Mail Account… from the list of available options.
- Enter your CSUN Email Address and enter Password.
- Click the Create button.
- Mac Mail will indicate that you have to set up the account manually. Select Next.
- Ensure that IMAP is selected.
- Enter outlook.office365.com for the Mail Server.
- Enter your CSUN Email Address and Password.
- Select Next.
- Enter smtp.office365.com for SMTP Server and your CSUN Email Address ( ) and Password.
- Select Create.
- Send a test email to confirm that sending/receiving is working correctly.
